OnSite Services was created in 2010, when now director Jamie decided to take the plunge and become a sole trader, carrying out all aspects of commercial vehicle repairs from the back of a kitted out transit van. Jamie began his career working for Hendy Ford, before moving on to work for some of the largest rental/fleet operators in the country at that time.

In 2013 after 3 years of hard graft, in a completely random situation whilst out on a job, Jamie happened to bump in to an old college friend who he had not seen for nearly 10 years. That friend was Luke, who was also working as a sole trader from his van as a commercial vehicle auto electrician. Luke’s career began at Mercedes Benz Commercials before moving on to continue learning his trade for several independent auto electrical companies.

The pair soon began to work together, using each others experience and skills to each others advantage. It soon became clear to them that with their combined skills and experience they had all the bases covered to be able to deal with all aspects of vehicle repair.

With their reputations glowing as a result of their workmanship, the customer base continued to grow and in early 2014 the opportunity arose for Jamie and Luke to acquire a commercial workshop  in Portswood, Southampton.

By early 2017 it had become apparent that their current workshop was not sufficient for their needs. With 7 employees now working for the company and not enough workshop space to be able to keep up with demand they knew that a new, larger site was necessary to continue to grow the business.

In late 2018, the pair took the next big step and acquired their second workshop in Curdridge, Botley. The new site had everything required to be able to cope with the demands of maintaining Heavy good vehicles. Consequently, this would now become the designated HGV/trailer workshop, with the Portswood workshop becoming the dedicated LGV workshop.

With more plans in the pipeline for the future, Jamie and Luke plan to continue  growth by investing in staff training and bringing through the next level of ‘OnSite’ technicians though the NVQ modern apprenticeship scheme.
